Dell and Google Teaming Up to Build an iPhone Killer
The web is buzzing again over Google phone madness, but this time it is actually about a cellphone. If you remember the last time everyone was speculating about the revelation of a Google phone, dubbed the gPhone, it turned out to be a mobile platform called Android.
Although Android was a big deal, with over 30 major companies involved, it wasn’t the gPhone handset we were all waiting for.
This time it’s different because some senior industry sources reportedly told MarketingWeek that Google and Dell will announce their plans for a new handset at the 3GSM telecoms conference in Barcelona, Spain.
Dell also brought in Ron Garriques last year, who is a former executive at Motorola’s Mobile Devices Division. This may have been in anticipation of the new handset from Dell’s Global Consumer Group which Garriques now heads.
At this point, the only thing we can do is wait to see if this iPhone killer makes it to production and lives up to the hype.
