Apple Quicktime 7.4.1 Update Released to Patch a Vulnerability
Apple has released the 7.4.1 update for their Quicktime software to patch an existing security vulnerability.
Quicktime is commonly used to play media on the web, and the vulnerability could be exploited when a user simply visits a malicious website designed to take advantage of earlier versions of the Quicktime software.
According to Apple:
“A heap buffer overflow exists in QuickTime’s handling of HTTP responses when RTSP tunneling is enabled. By enticing a user to visit a maliciously crafted webpage, an attacker may cause an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution. This update addresses the issue through improved bounds checking.”
The update was released for Mac OS X, Windows XP and Windows Vista users.
If you have Quicktime installed on your computer, I suggest you download the 7.4.1 update to make sure your PC is protected.
