The highly anticipated U.S. release date for the ultramobile Eee PC 900 has been announced by ASUS.
You can expect to see it in stores here in the states starting on May 12th 2008.
This higher end ASUS Eee PC features 20GB of storage space and it is available with your choice of Linux or Windows XP.
The screen is larger than the Eee PC 701’s at 8.9″ and it also has a multi-touch trackpad.
This Eee PC 900 has already been released overseas and it is expected to be just as popular as the Eee PC 701. (more…)
After numerous mishaps in various parts of their processor business in 2007, AMD was struggling to compete with Intel. Between Intel’s new Penryn processors and their performance on Wall Street, keeping up with Intel hasn’t been easy for AMD.

The MacBook Pro is slated to get a major overhaul after many years of the same design. The changes are going to be made on the surface, and under the hood for better performance according to MacNN.

Bill Gates was speaking before the Inter-American Development Bank when he said “Sometime in the next year or so we will have a new version” of Windows, aka Windows 7.
Although many people thought he was referring to a final release version, he was actually referring to an alpha or beta version of Windows 7.

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s Terascale Simulation Facility uses this IBM Blue Gene/L super computer for advanced scientific simulations. It was recently upgraded and now has 73,728 GB of memory and a peak speed of 596 teraFlops. This is the most powerful supercomputer in the world.
- JUGENE by IBM (Germany)
Jugene is among the newest members of the BlueGene/P family by IBM. Housed in the Forschungszentrum Juelich research facility in Juelich, Germany, it runs at a peak speed of 223 teraFlops via a grand total of 65,500 processors.
- Altix ICE 8200 by SGI (USA)
The SGI Altix ICE 8200 uses Intel Xeon (Clovertown) 3000 MHz Processors and is housed at the New Mexico Computing Applications Center. It has a peak speed of 172 teraFlops. (more…)

The newest super thin laptop on the block, the Lenovo Thinkpad X300 Ultraportable, is even shown on an envelope similar to the manila one that Steve Jobs pulled the MacBook Air out of back at MacWorld.

Apple has released the 7.4.1 update for their Quicktime software to patch an existing security vulnerability.
Quicktime is commonly used to play media on the web, and the vulnerability could be exploited when a user simply visits a malicious website designed to take advantage of earlier versions of the Quicktime software. (more…)
Both Apple and Dell are getting ready to launch notebook computers powered by Intel’s faster Penryn processors around the same time according to MacNN.
The 45nm Penryn processor uses less power than existing 65nm processors while performing at higher clock speeds. (more…)
