Microsoft Vista just can’t seem to get a break. Today, PC World named Vista the top tech disappointment of 2007. “It’s not that Vista is awful,” PC World states, “it’s just that Vista isn’t all that good.”
On the plus side, Vista has integrated security and parental controls, both of which were absent in Windows XP. It also sports that slick Aero interface and much improved wireless computability. (more…)

According to a recent press release by Intel, “The Intel® Z-P140 PATA Solid-State Drive is smaller than a penny and weighs less than a drop of water.”

Toshiba’s new Super Charge ion Battery (SCiB) claims to solve that problem by allowing you to get a 90% charge within just 5 minutes of plugging the charger into the outlet.

Microsoft announced the long-anticipated Vista SP1 release candidate (RC), but for many Vista users it required an exhausting process including multiple restarts before they could even complete the update from the Microsoft website.
The SP1 RC is available to any one using a valid copy of Windows Vista. Windows update will analyze your system settings and may recommend up to three pre-requisite updates before you are allowed to install the SP1 RC update. (more…)
As a follow up to last week’s rumors, the 8800 GTS 512MB has officially been released. The specs are as expected: 512MB ddr3 clocked at 1.9GHz, 128 stream processes, and a 650MHz Core Clock. It is built on the same 65nm technology as the 8800 GT.
Expect the 8800 GTS card to retail for at least $380 when it hits stores soon. (more…)
Several Dell XPS and Inspiron models will be available at Best Buy stores nationwide after Christmas. This a big deal for Dell because their previous business model was largely based on selling their computers directly to the consumer, rather than selling them through retail stores. (more…)
The highly praised Intel Penryn processors will be available in Apple notebooks on January 6, adding to its already robust line of notebook processors. Using Intel’s new 45nm process, these chips will offer faster speeds while maintaining cooler temperatures, which is a huge benefit for notebook computers. (more…)
There have been various reports about the possibility of an Apple Ultraportable MacBook all over the web for a while. Now there finally seems to be some truth behind, what had been merely a rumor up until now.
According to DigiTimes, Apple has ordered 13.3″ backlit display components from a company called Nano-Op, which would be used in a newer smaller MacBook. (more…)
