Apple is Investigating MacBook Hard Drive Problems

Apple has gotten “a few” reports from MacBook notebook buyers that said they have been having problems with the hard drives. They are currently looking into the reported hard drive issues.

According to research by Retrodata, “The read/write heads appear to fail mechanically, quickly causing deep scratches to the platter surface, and rendering the drives practically unrecoverable.” The data loss may be isolated to the Seagate 2.5-inch drives with firmware version 7.01 installed.
