The Cell Chip Processor which was collaboratively developed by Sony, IBM and Toshiba has eight different compute engines making it more powerful than dual-core and quad-core chips used in desktop computers.
The Dell XPS line represents some of their higher end technology, and the new XPS One is an all in one PC which is yet to be officially announced by Dell.
According to Engadget, it is likely to have a 22-inch WSXGA display, up to 4GB of Ram, a built in webcam, a slot loading Blu-ray burner and built in speakers. The XPS One will also include WiFi, Bluetooth, a Wireless Mouse and Keyboard, a multi memory card reader and an ATI Mobility Radeon 2400 HD graphics card.
Yeah you did read that correctly. A company called Lumenlab has shoved a fully fledged PC into a 42″ 1080p flat screen display panel, and not just any PC at that.
The internals of the Lumenlab Q42 PC include 1 Terrabyte of hard drive space, an Intel Core 2 Duo and 2GB of RAM. It also includes Lumenlab’s Hotwire networking technology which is “all you need to bring streaming HD video, HD audio, broadband data and full automation to every power outlet in your home or business.”
The new technology behind the 4TB Hard drives was developed by Hitachi’s Global Storage Technologies division. According to John Best, the chief technologist at Hitachi, computer hard drive capacity is doubling every two years.
Hitachi is slated to announce their new technology on Monday. The technology is scheduled to be implemented in hard drives by 2009.
AMD has officially announced the Radeon HD 2900 Pro after it was leaked earlier this month. The HD 2900 Pro has the ATI R600 processor with next generation unfied shader architecture. It is available in two different variants, the 1Gb model and a 512MB version.
Hewlett-Packard (HP) is slated to make solid state drives available to business laptop buyers by next month. Solid state drives (SSD’s) have no moving parts making them much more shock resistant. Other benefits include longer battery life, less weight and faster loading applications.
Initially the solid state option will be approximately $1,000 extra, but the cost may not be an issue to people who can really use the benefits of solid state. HP’s VP of business notebooks, Dan Forenza, said that he expects costs to come down as solid state drives gain acceptance in the marketplace and volumes increase.
The new Sony VAIO LT All in One PC / TV has been released. It has a sleek ‘iMac like’ white exterior and and a 22″ X-Brite Hi Color display. On the inside it has an optional Blu-ray burner, an Intel® Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of RAM.
It features a built in 1.3 Megapixel camera and an echo cancelling microphone.
